PRO's: Sturdy construction; very powerful - you can feel it "grabbing" the carpet; fairly easy to maneuver and operate; ample cord length.
CON's: NOISY - this vacuum has a high pitched whine like a turbine that would literally give me a headache if I had to use it for a whole house (I live in an apartment.);it is hard to put together - I had a very hard time getting the screws to screw all the way into the plastic parts; leaves grooves in plush carpeting - my carpet looks like a just plowed corn field after using this! Only one speed - high.
I didn't use it on bare floors but based on it's power and the stiffness of the bristles on the brush bar, I think that it would scratch wood or laminate floors. I returned it to the store.
FOLLOW UP: I purchased the higher priced Or..k advertised on the TV Infomercials and am very satisfied (except the price). It "swivels" and is very easy to maneuver - is lighter too. Doesn't leave "lines" in the carpet and has two speeds - lower for bare floors; no high pitched whine and relatively quiet. Cleans better and feels like it's self propelled. Really like it - the 10 yr. warranty and free tune-ups somewhat makes up for the price. Also, got a "free" hand-held canister with floor and above floor brushes which work great and a "free" iron with it.
